  1. What is Hersey’s House of Hope’s primary mission?
    Hersey’s House of Hope is dedicated to providing essential services, emergency shelter, and transitional housing tailored to the unique needs of women facing homelessness and domestic violence. Our mission is centered on empowerment, compassion, and supporting women on their journey toward rebuilding their lives.
  2. How can I stay informed about Hersey’s House of Hope activities and impact?
    Stay connected with us through our website, Facebook, and newsletters. We regularly update our community on events, success stories, and the impact of our programs. By staying informed, you become an essential part of our journey in creating positive change for women in need.
  3. Are you only open Saturdays?
    Yes. Being operated strictly by volunteers limits the days that we can be open as many of them work throughout the week.
  4. Is Hersey’s House of Hope a free store?
    We do not price anything! All the merchandise in the store (except the silent auction items) is purchased by donation. If people are going through hard times and aren’t able to give a financial donation, they can have it for free. Sometimes people who aren’t able to give a financial donation, come and offer their time to help us during the week to set up for Saturday.
  5. Do you take credit/debit cards?
    Not at this time. As soon as good internet is available to us, we plan on implementing this service, but as of now it is cash or check only.
  6. What is the purpose of Hersey’s House of Hope Silent Auction?
    The Silent Auction is a fundraising event designed to support our mission of providing essential services to women facing homelessness and domestic violence. It allows participants to bid on various donated items, with all proceeds directly contributing to empowering and uplifting the lives of those in need.
  7. Are all silent auction items new?
    No. We have some items that are new, some gently used, and some vintage items with a few bumps & bruises. All items are sold as is.
  8. How can I participate in the Silent Auction?
    Participation is easy! Visit our Silent Auction event page on our Facebook page where you can browse the items available for bidding. Follow the simple registration process, place your bids, and keep an eye on your favorite items to ensure you secure the winning bid. All silent auction items have a clipboard with a bid sheet. Customers can bid between 9 a.m. & 4 p.m. The clipboards are collected at 4 p.m. and the bid sheets are sorted. Bidders that are present pay for their items and take them with them. Bidders who are not present are called and can make an appointment to pick their item(s) up either that Saturday or early the next week. Your involvement helps make a significant impact on our cause.
  9. Can I bid on silent auction items online?
    Not at this time. We are run totally by volunteers, and we do not have the resources to monitor those sites.
  10. How can I volunteer with Hersey’s House of Hope?
    Volunteering with us is a meaningful way to make a direct impact.   11. What would I be doing if I volunteered during the week?
    We have many tasks that have to be done during the week to prepare the store for customers. Sweeping, dusting, organizing, sorting clothes, sorting donations. You can also assist in preparing boxes, items & clipboards for the silent auction,
  12. How does Hersey’s House of Hope use donations?
    Donations play a crucial role in supporting our mission. Every dollar goes directly towards providing emergency shelter, transitional housing, essential resources like food and clothing, and empowering job training programs for women in need. Transparency is key, and we ensure that your contribution makes a real and positive impact.
  13. Can I donate items like clothing or food directly to Hersey’s House of Hope?
    Yes, we welcome in-kind donations! Our clothing closet is available for women to select clothing and personal care items, and our food pantry is stocked with non-perishable items and fresh produce. Your generosity in donating items directly contributes to meeting the basic needs of those we serve.
  14. I don’t have transportation, but I have items to donate to Hersey’s House of Hope, can you pick them up?
    If we have volunteers available, we can pick up donated items. If you need this service, please call us or visit the Contact Us page and let us know how much you have available to donate.
  15. Can I sponsor specific programs or initiatives at Hersey’s House of Hope?
    Absolutely! We offer customizable sponsorship packages that allow you to align your support with specific programs or initiatives that resonate with you. Being a sponsor means you’re not just providing financial assistance; you’re becoming a lifeline for those facing adversity, guiding them towards a brighter and more secure future.
  16. How do you ensure the safety and security of women in your shelters?
    The safety and security of the women in our shelters are our top priorities. We have strict security measures in place, and our facilities are designed to provide a secure and comforting environment. Trained staff members are dedicated to ensuring the well-being of every woman under our care.
